Election Commission issued Vice President Election NotificationAccording to the latest reports, the election process for the post of vice president has begun with the EC issuing notification of the same. The candidates are given a chance to file their nominations from 4th July to 18th of July. While the scrutiny of nominations will begin on 19th July, a person can withdraw nomination till 21st of July. The polling for the same will be held on 5th of August and counting of votes will take place on the same day itself. Vice President is elected by the Electoral College that compromise of members of houses of parliament along with the nominated members.

Maharashtra Government Planning Guidelines to Wave off Farmers Loan

The month of July has been an amazing month for the farmers as Maharashtra government is planning to come up with a fresh set of guidelines that will help in effective implementation of the loan waiver scheme for farmers. The government is expected to give a definition of the word “farmer”, and the type of loan which will be considered under the waiver scheme.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath Shuns VIP Culture

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister took a bold step when he plans to shun the VIP culture. From now on, no AC, red carpet, air-cooler, sofa or saffron towel will be seen during the field visits of the Uttar Pradesh chief minister. During his recent visits to Deoria and Gorakhpur for meeting families of martyred jawans, the administration put up sofas, red carpets and ACs at their residences as a temporary measure. However the CM said that he was extremely unhappy with the extravagant arrangements and wants to put an end to the “show-off.”

Unrest in Darjeeling – Demand for a Separate Gorkhaland State

Darjeeling is seeing protests as 3 eminent Gorkha community personalities - Krishna Singmoktan, Prabhat Pradhan, and Karma Yonzon returned their award back to the state government in a public gathering. The Gorkha community is demanding for a separate Gorkhaland state. With 29 days of indefinite shutdown in the north Bengal hills, there have been many incidents of violence. However, the government has invited the Gorkha leaders for discussions.

Jharkhand Second After Gujarat in Growth Rate

In the past two and a half year, Jharkhand has made a speedy development as the state is second after Gujarat in growth rate. Also since the formation of Jharkhand, this is the first time that people have given a majority government in 2014 and thus they have high expectation from the government. However, the CM believes that the achievements do not put an end to the development of the state as it is moving toward becoming more transparent. Different departments are asked to visit a district one day in a week in order to speed up the development process.

Now Pay a Fine of Rs 50,000 for Dumping Waste into Ganga

From 13th of July, a penalty of Rs. 50,000 will be imposed on all those who will be dumping waste into the holy river, Ganga. Justice Swatanter Kumar has directed the authorities that dumping of waste should not be allowed within 500 meters of Ganga. Moreover, Swatanter has also proposed to declare 100 meters from the edge of the river as a no development zone. Moreover, Environmental activist MC Mehta has pleaded the NGT to put up a CBI inquiry into the 7,000 crores spent by the government for cleaning of the Ganga.
