Bottles containing 60,000 liters of liquor crushed in Bihar (June 3)

Rohtas district police of Bihar crushed liquor pouches and bottles containing about 60,00O litres of alcohol. The police took this action in lieu of the Supreme Court’s decision of providing relief to Bihar’s liquor manufacturers by increasing the deadline for disposing old stocks by a month. The time limit has now been extended from May 31 to July 31.

This decision was taken by the apex court bench headed by Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri. Earlier, the alcohol companies had knocked the doors of Patna High Court against the liquor ban.

International Summer Festival Kicks Off In Shimla (June 5)


Shimla, the Queen of Hills, celebrated the International Summer Festival -2017 in a magnificent way. The inaugural ceremony was bedazzled by the performance of stars such as Madhuri Pandey, Akanksha Sharma, and Rajeev Thapa. The five day long fest began on June 1 and concluded on June 5.

It is one of the city’s grand festivals that witness the performances of artists from other states as well and even Bollywood stars. The festival is the city’s biggest where even Bollywood stars have performed. This year, however, the annual Miss Shimla beauty contest was not held, which was a bit disappointing.

Ice cream Fest Held In Chandigarh With Full Fervor (June 10)

The visitors to Chandigarh’s popular tourist destination Sukhna Lake were in for a sweet treat for an ice-cream festival. The ice-cream festival, which was held for three days, began on Friday and concluded on Sunday. It was the second edition of the fest which was sponsored by the Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation.

Many international and national ice-cream brands such as Mother Dairy, Cream Bell, London Dairy, Verka, Baskin Robbins, Vadilal, Cafe Coffee Day, and much more took part in the festival.

In a welcome move, the Delhi government issued an email id and a WhatsApp number for people to conveniently register complaints and submit queries about the water-logging ahead of the monsoon season and the approaching rains.

According to the Public Works Department (PWD), the email is monsoondelhi2017@gmail.com and the WhatsApp number is 8130188222 wherein citizens can share their complaints along with pictures. The PWD has also appealed to the residents of the national capital to share the number and email id as much as they can.

New Airport Terminal at Gorakhpur Airport, UP (June 15)

A new terminal was inaugurated at the Gorakhpur airport by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Speaking on the event, the Chief Minister said, “We propose to see the common man taking cheap flights across the country and we are working on it.” Interestingly, Adityanath’s Lok Sabha constituency is also Gorakhpur.

Spice Jet and Air India have also started operating from Gorakhpur airport. They are likely to be followed by more private airlines soon. Jayant Sinha, the MoS for Civil Aviation also attended the event.

Construction Of Gyan Godri Gurdwara Starts Amid Stir In Haridwar (June 18)

As the Uttar Pradesh Government remains still indecisive about the land near the banks of Ganga, the Sikh community people have already started the works for constructing Gyan Godri Gurdwara at the site. The Sikhs have been holding protests and stirs for handing over the land to them at Prem Nagar Ashram Bridge for the last couple of months.

Harjeet Singh Dua, President of Gyan Godri Gurudwara Management Committee told the Pioneer, “We would start building the boundary wall around the site soon.” However, the SDO of Irrigation and the SSP, Haridwar both denied about any such information of construction going at the site.
