    Mahavir Jayanti or Mahavir Janma Kalyanak, celebrated as birth of Mahavira (also known as Vardhamana), a modish of the Buddha, and  last in the galaxy of the 24th Tirthankara (great sages) of the present time cycle.

    History of celebration: According to the past, Devananda,  Brahmin  Rishabhdeva’s wife, conceived him, miracle of God  transferred the embryo to the Trisala’s womb. Then, Royalty Mahavira was thereafter born as the son of King Siddartha of Kundgraam and Queen Trishala. Queen Trishala had 16 of auspicious dreams of white elephant, a lion, God Lakhsami with two elephants at side showering flowers, moon lightening the universe, a pair of jumping fish, a golden pitcher sun, lotus flower lake, calm ocean of milk, a celestial place, throne of rubies and diamonds, celestial king ruling the earth, a garland, a white bull, a magdara flower and a vase of gems. After all these dreams, Queen Trishala gave birth to Mahavira, marking him as a Tirthankara in celestial milk. The child was very beautiful with great spiritual and mental strength. Mahavir follow non violence, truthfulness, non stealing, non possession and simple living. Idol of Lord Mahavir symbolizes by Lion’s symbol.

    Celebration:-

    People carry God Mahavir on chariot in possession of “rath yatra” with bhajans are recited. Mahavir statues are given ceremonial bath (abhisheka) and then mediate and offer prayers. Monks deliver lectures in temples. People involve in donations and also worship for the dreams like mother rishala. Jainism follow path of non violence. For that, some wear face masks so that while breathing in, they prevent the chance of accidentally killing an insect . jainism follow vows of Lord Mahavir  to live in peace and harmony
