Khordad Sal or Navroz-I-Khas is celebrated vigorously as the birthday of Iranian Prophet Zoroaster known as “Greater Noruz or founder of Zoroastrianism”. The exact year of Zarathustra’s birth is unknown but believed that Zoroaster was born on the first millennium before Jesus Christ birth and lived between 628 BC and 551 B.C. Zoroaster is made from two words i.e Zara meaning golden and ushas meaning light. This festival remarks to review their lives and involve themselves on honesty, community, charity and nobility. Not only Zoroastrians celebrates Khordad Sal, academics and eastern philosophers celebrate Khordad Sal in lavish ways.
Preparations include house cleaning, decorations with symbolic rangoli and Fragrant flowers. Traditional foods are cooked for appetizing dinner such as kebab, fish and chelo and table is decorated with seasonal fruits, Foods, flowers and dishes of nuts and candies. Zoroastrian wear new clothes, bless young children by foreheads with vermillion spots and visit their worship temples to honor Ahura Mazda (God of Zoroastrian) and for the birth anniversary Zoroaster.
Another solemn ceremony namely Jashan or thanksgiving prayers is practiced in the agiaries which is followed by a rich feast in the temples. This festival is very keen symbol of love, relation, blessings and positive life.
