Who was Hazarat Ali?
Hazarat Ali is an honorable name among Muslims community. He was born 599 AD, and the son of Abu Talib and Fatima bint Asda. Hazarat Ali was the only person who born in the holy sanctuary of Kaaba in Mecca, the holiest place mentioned in Islam. Ali was the first young male who accepted Islam. He was educated by prophet Muhammed. After his Medina visit, he got married to Muhammad’s daughter Fatimah and became his son-in-law. Ali took part in the early caravan raids from Mecca and also participated in several battles fought by the nascent Muslim community.
Assassination of Ali
On 27 January AD 661, he was offering prayer in the Great Mosque located in Kufa, Kharijite Abd-al-Rahman ibn Muljam attacked Ali. Ibn Muljam’s attacked him with poison-coated sword and hurt him seriously. Ali ordered his sons not to kill the Kharijites, on the other hand he ordered that if he survived, then forgive the ibn Muljam but if he died, ibn Muljam should be given only one equal hit. Ali died two days later on 29 January AD 661. Hasan fulfilled Qisas and Ibn Muljam was punishment equally for Ali’s death.

His birthday is celebrated by Muslims all over the world with joy and happiness. Delicious food is served to families, friends and neighbourhood in order to honour his great achievements. Mosques are decorated in spectacular ways, feasts are organized at different places, and prayers are offered.
