The lake is surrounded by the tall trees which offers a perfect attractions to the tourist and include the paddle boats, thatched huts and bubble fountains. Kauncha, a famous typical tribal village, which is situated 50 kilometers in the southwest corner of the capital city of Silvassa, on the bank of river Daman Ganga. This tribal village is surrounded by the green valleys of thick, dense forests followed by the majestic mountain ranges from the Western Ghats that together lend its spectacular panoramic beauty. The localities of the village mostly belong from the ancient tribes of Kuknas and Warlis, who are so close to their mother nature that they appear as an integral part of it. They used to live in small and tiny clay hut moments, that is surrounded by the lush green trees. You can easily find women carrying buckets and baskets while the men folk grazing cattle as their main stay is cattle rearing and agriculture and they love to spend their leisure time in enjoying music and dance.

Island Garden

Island Garden is a place situated around a lake, and gives you the spellbound feeling for hours with its pretty thatched huts, quaint wooden bridges and paddle boat rides. The path within the lake is covered by beautiful flower and provide an enjoyable track for health and fitness freaks for jogging.

From 1954 to 1961, the territory was administered by a body called the Varishta Panchayat of Free Dadra and Nagar Haveli. In 1961 when Indian forces took over Goa, Daman, and Diu, Mr. Badlani was, for one day, designated the Prime Minister of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, so that, as Head of State, he could sign an agreement with the Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, and formally merge Dadra and Nagar Haveli with the Republic of India.
