Virat Kohli – Dhoni’s Total Heir

Virat Kohli

After the victory against Bangladesh, Virat Kohli has become the first Indian skipper to win six consecutive Test series. It shows the future of cricket is in the safe hand and none but Kohli is the only King to sit on the Throne of Dhoni. The young man is proving himself with his magic willow in matches after matches. He is learning to lead the team from the front. He has been able to organise his team and himself as well. We can see how Team India is becoming a balanced all rounding team who can perform in any format of cricket with great confident.

Virat KohliThe six consecutive Test series which India won under Virat’s leadership are all between 2015 and 2017 and they are against Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies, New Zealand, England and Bangladesh.

India has won 19 matches without a single loss. The victory sequence is the fifth best in Test history after West Indies (27 between 1982 and 1984), England (26 between 1968 and 1971), Australia (25 between 1946 and 1951) and Australia (22 between 2005 and 2008).

Virat Kohli didn’t even lose a single test as a captain. He has managed to bring 15 victories and four drawn matches. It is an Indian record, obliterating the 18 matches played by Sunil Gavaskar where India had 6 victories & 12 drawn between January 1976 and January 1980. Kapil Dev had led India in 17 consecutive Tests with 4 wins, one tied & 12 drawn matches between September 1985 and March 1987.

At the end of his first ever match against Bangladesh as a captain; Kohli bagged his fifth Man of the Match award in Test.

Virat KohliAs the Test captain, Virat Kohli has achieved 15 wins, two defeats and six drawn games out of 23 tests which lead team India to the winning percentage of 65.21. Notably, it is the best percentage among the Indian skippers so far, who have led India at least in five Tests.

Kohli’s fantastic record of fifteen Test wins is the joint second-highest number of victories along with Ricky Ponting and Michael Vaughan. Steve Waugh is leading the record board with 17 victories after playing 23 Tests.

Virat Kohli is living his dream after winning five consecutive Tests. Among them, four Tests victories are against England and the one & only test victory against Bangladesh.

Looking forward to see the same result against Australia as well starting from February 23, 2017.
