Some of the biggest companies in India generate billions of dollars of revenue. In terms of market capital and assets here are some of the top businesses located in India.

Tata Steel

This steel manufacturing company generates over $24.5 billion in revenue. It is a subsidiary of the Indian conglomerate Tata Corporation, established by Darobji Tata. Being the 12th largest steel company in the world, it is also the biggest private sector manufacturer of steel in all of India. Tata Steel comes under the Fortune 500 corporations.

Coal India

90% of Coal India is owned by the government. The state controlled coal mining industry has headquarters in Kolkata, and stands to this day as the largest coal mining company in the world. In the IPO, the company raised 2.5 trillion Indian rupees back in 2010.

Hindalco Industries

This is an aluminum manufacturing company, and is the largest producer of the material in all of Asia. The annual revenue of the company is $14 billion.

Indian Oil Corporation

Indian Oil is a state owned gas and oil company with HQ in New Delhi. Indian Oil stands as the 83rd biggest public company in the world, and the biggest business in India when ranked by the revenue it generates, $76 billion.

Reliance Industries

Reliance was found by Dhirubhai Ambani, and is currently owned by Mukesh Ambani as the largest public traded company in all of India, in terms of market capitalization. By revenue ranking it comes in second after Indian Oil, at $73.1 billion. Reliance also stands at number 99 in Fortune 500 biggest companies in the world.

Bharat Petroleum

Bharat petroleum is the Indian state controlled gas and oil company that is located in Mumbai. The company has been ranked on number 225 in the Fortune 500 list.

State Bank

The State Bank of India is a multinational financial services corporation. It is located in Mumbai, and is entirely owned and directed by the Indian government. The government has assets worth $501 billion, and over 15000 branches all over the country, making it the biggest network of banking system in all of India. Forbes ranked it on number 29 in its list of most reputed companies from around the world. The company generates $37 billion in revenue.

Hindustan Petroleum

The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation is another Indian state owned natural gas and oil company with HQ in Mumbai. The company holds the Navratna status. The HPCL ranks it as number 267 in Fortune Global’s top 500 biggest corporations in the world.

Tata Motors

Tata Motors is an Indian multinational automotive company. The corporation has a whole range of products like light vehicles, trucks, cars, and buses. The business is a subsidiary of Tata, and used to be called Telco. With the astounding turnover of $32 billion, the company is ranked as number 312 in Fortune 500 Global list of corporations. Tata is also the 18th biggest manufacturer of automotive parts, 4th biggest of trucks, and 2nd of buses.
