National Karate Championship (20-22 May)
A 36-member karate team from Arunachal Pradesh accompanied by three officials went to New Delhi to participate in the Karate Association of India Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior, and U-21 year National Karate Championship, 2016. AKA President Shihan Likha Tara advised the team to maintain strength, power and tempo until an end of the fight.
Online registration of marriages launched (21st May)
The West Kameng district administration, in compliance with Supreme Court ruling with regards to mandatory registration of marriages and Arunachal Pradesh Govt. Marriage Registration Rules 2007, launched NIC based online registration of marriage. Deputy Commissioner Sonal Swaroop launched the online registration of marriage by registering the marriage of MLA Japu Deru.
AP CM Kalikho Pul warns forces trying to create rift with Assam (21st May)
On 21st May, some organizations tried to create division among the people living along the inter-state border with Assam. It is said by Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Kalikho Pul that his government would take strong action against such diverse force and appealed to the people to maintain peace.
Health and Education on Govt priority list (May 23rd)
Reiterating the government’s prioritization of health and education in the developmental front, Secretary Planning, Tourism, and IPR, Dr. Joram Beda urged for total commitment from all stakeholders. During an interaction with the HoDs of Lower Subansiri district to take stock of the developments in the district, he said.
Discovery shoots for adventure travel show in Bomdila (25th May)
A team of 17-member from a popular TV channel “Discovery” led by Director M Joseph started shooting for an adventure travel show in the picturesque Bomdila in West Kameng. The team started shooting with an early morning sun rise shot from Bomdila Pass and a visit to GRL Monastary. They came all the way to Bomdila to meet one of the India’s top mountaineers Anshu, who is the only Indian woman mountaineer to summit Mt Everest thrice.
Giant strides towards saving the red panda (28th May)
From banning the felling of trees to conducting half-yearly patrols, the villages have taken it upon themselves to conserve the habitats of endangered animals. In India’s remote north-eastern corner of Arunachal Pradesh, two hamlets in Arunachal Pradesh take huge steps to provide a secure habitat for the red panda.
