Government had booked transmission capacity of 2,000 MW in the Wardha-Dichpally-Maheshwaram line. Nearly two-and-a-half years after initiating the process of purchasing power from Chhattisgarh, Telangana has started evacuating power from April first week. Initially it began with evacuating about one-fifth of 1,000 MW intended supply as the demand of energy in Telangana is constantly oscillating around 180 million units for the past few weeks.
Chhattisgarh government announces implementation of Seventh Pay Commission (April 1)
Chhattisgarh government announced implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission on 1as April, which will benefit over 2.60 lakh state government employees.
Chief Minister Raman Singh made the announcement while replying to discussion on the appropriation bill 2017 in the state Legislative Assembly. The bill was passed by voice vote after the discussion, paving the way for withdrawal of state’s annual budgetary provision of around Rs 81,000 crore for 2017-18 from the Consolidated Fund.
Madhya Pradesh CM launched ‘Deendayal Thali’ for Rs 5(7th April)
MP government’s ambitious plan, “Deendayal Thali”, to dish out subsidised meal for poor at Rs 5 a plate at select outlets has been launched in Bhopal and Gwalior simultaneously on 7th April. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the initiative in Gawlior while Bhopal Mayor Alok Sharma did it in Bhopal. The scheme, being monitored by the local administration department, is offering a wholesome meal to people at a highly subsidised rate, which is being supplied with the help of NGOs. BJP is observing 2017 as ‘Garib Kalyan Varsh’ to mark the birth centenary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
PM Modi likely to discuss President Candidate with Bhagwat (14th April)
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters at Mahal on April 14 and meet RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, probably to discuss the nominee for the presidential elections.
Sangh sources say the interaction would primarily focus on the appointment of new president which the saffron party can get elected without help from any other party. The party is in power in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Assam and is a coalition partner in Jammu and Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh. Shiv Sena had proposed name of RSS chief for the president elections but Bhagwat said he was not in the race.
Gramodaya Abhiyan (14th April)
Demand for farmers’ loan waiver is growing in Madhya Pradesh. Farmers across the state too are demanding loan waiver from the BJP government. CM Shivraj Chauhan is already known as Kisan Putra due to his agricultural-centric policies. Chouhan has announced Gramodaya Abhiyan with an objective of doubling the agricultural income from April 14 across Madhya Pradesh.
Stone to be laid for Ambedkar memorial (14th April)
Minister for Social and Tribal Welfare Nakka Anand Babu said the foundation for the Ambedkar Smruti Vanam at Amaravati would be laid on April 14 marking the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.The government has allotted a 20-acre site where a 125-foot tall bronze statue of Dr. Ambedkar would be installed. The proposed memorial would have a meditation centre, a library, an open-air theatre and a study centre.
